Family Support Specialist
This is a part time to full time position for a home visiting intervention program serving families who have children with developmental delays or disabilities. The family support specialist uses a coaching model to support families in meeting goals they have set for their child, assesses child and family needs, maintains records, coordinates with professionals, and advocates for families. Flexible hours and travel to other towns in Southeastern Montana are required. Work from home possible based on location. Position can be based out of Custer, Dawson, Rosebud or other nearby counties.
Salary starting at $19.50-$20.50/hour based upon qualifications and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
- Experience or interest in developing and implementing skill development programs for children and families and helping them reach goals
- Knowledge of child development and behaviors.
- Ability to focus on family as primary unit of service.
- Ability to utilize structured interviewing skills.
- Ability to cooperate and coordinate services with other community agencies and professionals.
- Ability to work with other professionals in a team approach.
- Ability to prepare and keep routine records and reports.
- Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills

OBRA/
PASSR
What is OBRA/PASSR?
The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) of 1987 was passed by Congress to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities who live in certified nursing facilities receive the attention they need. DEAP’s expert and caring staff provides OBRA services at no cost to persons in certified nursing facilities who have intellectual disabilities and related conditions. We work with families and nursing facilities to provide limited case management, annual resident reviews and modest funding for specialized services.
Who would be a great fit for this position?
· Retired nurses, social workers, case managers, or anyone who would be willing to spend a few hours meeting with the nursing home resident, nursing home staff, and the family or guardian to complete an initial or annual resident review and help determine ways to improve quality of life. A degree is not required for this position, but a heart for members of your community is strongly encouraged. Someone who is looking for part-time work. The job is very flexible and could work for someone who also has another job.

Direct Service Professional
Direct Support Professionals, or DSP’s, work one on one with people with varying abilities, supporting them in their home and community.
- Provide support, and advocate for, the quality of life and personal preferences of adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Provide them with the tools for self-advocacy and to live independently in the least restrictive setting.
- Services take place in people’s homes, communities and in office type settings designed to assist individuals in acquiring, retaining, and improving self-help, socialization, and daily living skills (cooking, shopping etc.).
- Flexible hours, including evening and weekends, are required.
- Must be able to pass criminal and protective services background checks as well as be at least 21 years of age, insurable to drive DEAP vehicles.
- Valid Montana driver’s license required.
